Dual Credit Faculty & H.S. Librarians

Why use LSC Library resources?

While most high school libraries have access to a variety of books and online research databases, they do not have access to some of the more scholarly resources available at LSC-CyFair Library. Students taking dual credit courses should be learning how to research and analyze information from peer-reviewed journals and other scholarly sources that are standard in community college and university libraries.

Some of the available research databases for you and your students to use include:
  • Academic Search Complete
  • JSTOR
  • Project Muse
  • Oxford Art Online
  • Films on Demand
  • Kanopy Films
You can find all of the Lone Star College databases in our A-Z Database List.

Resources and Services for DC Faculty

Faculty teaching Dual Credit courses on high school campuses have access to the same library services and resources as our on-campus faculty. Some of the available services and resources include:

  • Library Instruction: A librarian can visit your class either in person at your high school campus or online via zoom. During this visit, the librarian can teach students about how to successfully use the LSC Library's resources to successfully complete research assignments as well as properly documenting their research through citing sources correctly.
  • Embedded Librarian: You can add a librarian to your D2L course so that the librarian can add a library module to your course and your students can interact directly with the librarian via discussions and email.
  • Customized Research Guides (LibGuides): You can request a LibGuide for your course or assignment. The LibGuide will lead your students to library databases and resources specific to your assignment, as well as provide tips for successfully finding and using library resources.
  • Research Assignment Assistance: A librarian can review your research assignment to determine if the library has adequate research databases for students to find materials on their topics.

Contact Dual Credit Librarian Tracy Williams for more information about these services.
