What is Sublimation Printing?

Sublimation printing is a two step process that allows makers to create custom designs and attach them to a variety of surfaces. In step one, makers will use the Sawgrass Print Utility software to create their own design. Then, the design will be printed on heat transfer paper with heat transfer ink. In step two, the printed design is attached to the base material and super-heated. Super-heating transfers the ink from the design from the paper to the base material, creating a one-of-a-kind craft.

Disclaimer for Using Sublimation Printer

Use: The Sublimation Printer may be used only for lawful purposes. The library will not print or sublimate material that is:

  • Prohibited by local, state or federal law.
  • Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well‐being of others. 
  • Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the college environment.
  • In violation of another's intellectual property rights. For example, the Sublimation Printer will not be used to reproduce material subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.

The library reserves the right to:

  • Refuse any sublimation request. Use of the sublimation printer is entirely at the discretion of the library and the library reserves the ability to deny service for any reason.
  • Use staff discretion to organize the sublimation request queue for overall efficient output.
  • Photograph all sublimation projects. Images may be used for reporting, assessment, and marketing.
  • Gather feedback from users.
  • Implement additional requirements not listed here.
