Faculty Resources: Library Instruction

What is library instruction?

Lone Star-CyFair library faculty will teach with you to help your students develop information literacy skills that meet your course research needs. Our goals include:

  • Teaching students how to navigate the library
  • Assisting students with the research process using both online and print sources
  • Developing students' critical thinking skills in selecting and evaluating information
  • Emphasizing the value of information through academic integrity
  • Guiding ethical use of information through use of citations and other best practices

Scheduling library instruction

Helping us help you and your students:

  • Our instruction schedule fills quickly, so make your requests early in the semester.
  • Give library faculty at least 1 week advance notice so we can better meet your students' specific needs.
  • Provide a copy of the assignment and describe your learning outcomes for the session.
